To my little Raven

I hope you made it safely to the other side of the portal. As I told you to open this letter immediately upon arrival in Azwood, you should find yourself on a beautiful glade near our mother tree whilst reading my words.

The willows should be in bloom by now and shimmer in a soft, lilac colour through the nightly ambience of Azluth’s crystal garden. Please, don’t touch those shiny gems. I know their magical light is fascinating, but the spirits that dwell within their structures don’t appreciate disturbance.

My little raven might wonder what fate this mysterious realm has in store for him. Rest assured that no harm will be done to you as long as you stay in Spiritwaters, even though some lessons of my hometown will undoubtedly pose a challenge.

This could be your new home if you wish to stay. If not, you are always free to leave and search for a place that suits you better. Though I recommend not to wander too far northwards… The laws for boys and men are different up there and you might find that some matriarchies are not as benevolent towards males as mine.

It is true, I am not your mother. But after all we’ve been through this past year, I think the term clan mother is appropriate. And as such, I hate to see you step into this new chapter of your life without me. You’ve grown on me, Radu Corvinus, like a son I never had… I might have embarked on this journey through the veil in search of your father but I’m glad I found you first.

House Nightstride will protect you and provide everything you need until you’re old enough to make a name and living for yourself. Tell them that it was me who sent you and that it is my will for you to become the most powerful Raven Blade in all of Gardyan. ‘Tis your birthright alone to inherit this title and my brother Bozan shall make sure that you can claim it.

His daughter should be around your age, so she might make for an excellent training partner and maybe even a good friend. Be careful though, she is a fierce young lady and as I know this little passage hawk, she will welcome you in person to the woods in three, two, one…

Sign of the Raven: Release Trailer

“Sign of the Raven absolutely delivers on immersive, high fantasy world-building in a way that demands your full attention …. and honestly…. I loved that. This is not a “skim and vibe” kind of fantasy. You have to settle in, pay attention, and let the world unfold around you piece by piece. And once it does? It’s incredibly rewarding.”

Character Portrait: Radu

“Sign of the Raven” by Brynn Danu is a dark epic fantasy novel rooted in blood, inheritance, and perilous magic that scars not only the land, but the souls bound to it. The story unfolds with a purposeful pace, allowing power, violence, and consequence to shape the narrative as much as prophecy and fate

—Maissy

“From the very first chapter, I felt dropped into a layered, living world filled with ancient lore, political tension, shifting alliances, and magic that feels both dangerous and deliberate.
